What is a Certified Funeral Celebrant?
A Celebrant is a person who is trained and certified to meet the needs of families during their time of loss. A Celebrant serves by providing a funeral service that is personalized to reflect the personality and life-style of the deceased thus giving significance to the life lived.
What does a Celebrant offer a family?
A Celebrant offers an alternative to a service provided by clergy for those families who are not affiliated with a church or who do not wish a traditional funeral service. These services may also be conducted in addition to any traditional funeral services requested by a family.
A Celebrant is trained to design a service that is completely personal, incorporating those unique stories, songs and experiences that defined the loved one.
A Celebrant will schedule a special time for family members to gather, to share memories, anecdotes and special moments in their loved one’s life. The essence of the service will be based upon the remembrances of the family. The Celebrant will consult with the family to help design a service that best reflects and memorializes the life of their loved one.
A Celebrant is bound by a Code of Ethics for complete confidentiality in all dealings with a family.
Why use a Celebrant?
A Celebrant, trained through the In-Sight Institute of Oklahoma City, OK, receives the most comprehensive and sensitive training available in the field of grief and compassionate care. You will be served by someone who understands the process and is prepared to offer you the very best funeral ceremony possible.
What is the cost?
A Celebrant’s fee is comparable to the fees charged by clergy for performing a funeral. The Celebrant will spend approximately 10 hours in preparation for a service. Travel expenses may apply for funerals outside New London County and are considered on a case by case basis.
